In 2013, the budget for Software Quality Assurance (QA) and Testing was 23% of the total IT spend. In 2014, the average rose to 26%, and in 2015 the percentage grew to 35% of the total IT spend. All indications are that the IT spend allocated to ensuring application quality and performance will continue to rise reaching 40% in 2018. Are there career opportunities in Software QA and Testing? Yes! Is it challenging to take advantage of those opportunities? Yes!
During his presentation, Mr. Ticknor will touch on three areas:
- Trends within the IT industry that directly impacts career opportunities specifically within the QA and Testing domain. Tom's talk will include what industries will likely see the most growth in QA and Testing and how is Agile Development, DevOps and IoT (Internet of Things) is impacting future growth for QA and Testing.
- The goal for management is to build a "world-class" team of individuals who collectively have the talent and temperament to bring extraordinary value to the organization. So how will management gauge the talent, or temperament, or character of potential team members? During his talk, Tom will share some key criteria used by management to evaluate; who is this person we are considering bringing into family, will they play well with others, and how will we know.
- Finally, Tom will share some insights about the profession of QA and Testing. What does it mean to be a professional? How do you go from being an employee to being an industry professional?
Whether you are management, non-management, or looking for insights into how to join the team, a lively discussion will be good for all!
